When can I begin attending classes after delivery?
We welcome all moms at any stage of motherhood. Postpartum moms we recommend waiting until you have medical clearance from your physician (usually 6 weeks postpartum). Our Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre classes are also a great option for expecting moms. We recommend that you get your doctor's permission before starting any prenatal exercise program.
Can I begin a workout while pregnant?
Provided that you have nothing that would restrict you from exercising, IT IS SAFE to begin a workout or to continue a workout regimen while you are pregnant. It is recommended that you seek advise and permission from your physician before beginning a new exercise regimen. Exercise is an important component to your pregnant well-being, as well as your strength as a new mom. Our program is designed to follow Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Guidelines for exercise during pregnancy, and our instructors plan each class with modifications for the pregnant body.
How long are the workouts?
Our workouts are one hour long, unless otherwise noted. The class is set up with a 5-8 minute warm up, followed by a 45 minute full body class that incorporates strength and cardio, and finally ending with 10 minutes of abs and stretching.
What do I need for class?
We suggest comfortable athletic shoes and workout attire, a towel or yoga mat for ground and core work, plenty of water and a small post workout snack. Majority of our workouts are outdoors, therefore it is also important to bring sunblock, bug repellent spray and a hat to protect you from the sun. A jogging stroller is recommended, but not required. Just about any style of stroller will work as long as your baby can be securely buckled in properly and it is not prone to tipping. We often travel on gravel terrain so please make sure your stroller wheels are durable and can withstand walking or running on different surfaces.
What do I expect on my first class?
First of all, congratulations and welcome to motherhood! This is an exciting and wonderful time, and we are so proud of you for taking the first step and making it out to your first class! Our instructors arrive at class at least 15 minutes prior to start time, This is the perfect opportunity for you to get some one on one time with them and express any questions or concerns you may have. Once class begins we will warm up as a group, introduce ourselves and our babies, instructors will then explain the plan for the class and we will head out on our traveling stations. Our classes are filled with moms on varied exercise levels, please listen to your body and take each exercise to your comfort level. Modifications and Challenge options will be offered. Once we complete our traveling stations we will finish up class with abs and stretching, again this is YOUR workout so please be aware of what your body is capable of and be kind and gentle with yourself, its only day 1.
What do I do if my baby gets fussy during class?
Our first priority is the happiness of you and your child. Tend to your baby first. We travel and stop several times during class for strength toning, so please take this opportunity to feed, change or care for you baby. Our instructors will do their absolute best to make class enjoyable for you and your little one!
Can I bring older non stroller age children to class?
Our FIT4MOM member guidelines allow children age 7 and up to walk along side mom and travel with the group from station to station. Older children must remain with their parent or guardian for the duration of the class and keep a safe distance from the group during resistance band strength training. FIT4MOM Instructors are not responsible for the care of older children attending class.
What if the weather is bad?
We will only cancel classes in extreme inclement weather. We encourage all clients to pre enroll for all classes so you can receive direct email notification from the instructor should there be any changes to the class meeting location or time. What is OUR VILLAGE Moms Club?
OUR VILLAGE Moms Club is absolutely FREE to join; it does not require you to hold a monthly FIT4MOM membership or class pass. How do I start?
You can join any of our Stroller Strides classes simply by selecting a class location and date that interests you and fits in your schedule. Select "enroll" for that class and create your new member profile online! Creating this profile is just a pre-registration for class and does not collect any payment.
